Easter Weekend

A quick visit north to the island of Usedom on he Baltic and between eating smoked fish, ice creams and Easter bunnies we spotted  Nuthatch, Black Kite, Cranes, Little Terns (wonder if we’ll see these further inland) and what I think was a wood warbler….see below.

Back home we got an opportunity to sail on the lake, great to see wildfowl and other birds from their viewpoint, got an amazing view of a white tailed eagle as it flew over head, also first common tern of the year. We’re frequently seeing Ospreys now often with large fish in their talons as they fly over our village, they don’t seem in the least perturbed by humans and the increasing numbers of boats on the lake.

Monday bike ride spots red and black kites, plus two very clear sightings of male Marsh Harriers, linnet and a pair of redstarts near our house.
